For each line under "Sound, video and game controllers", except the "Microsoft Streaming" ones, do the following: Pull down the "View" menu and select "Show hidden devices". Open Windows Device Manager, locate and expand the section "Sound, video and game controllers". So, the immediate suspects for a blue-screen crash that happens while Sibelius is displaying "initialising playback system" are the device drivers for all sound cards or chips present in the system (not necessarily the one that Sibelius was intended to use, but any one, as Sibelius will enumerate them all). Blue-screen crashes can only be caused by code running as part of the operating system, such as device drivers. An application, such as Sibelius, cannot itself cause a Windows blue-screen crash.
